Plane’s Engine Caught Fire Seconds Before Take-Off in Delhi
On Friday night, an IndiGo aircraft that was about to take off for Bengaluru, one of its engines catches fire a few seconds before the plane’s take off.
However, all the passengers of the plane including its crew are safe, as per the statement of Delhi police. This incident occurred on an IndiGo aircraft flight, 6E-2131, at 9:45 PM.
A preliminary report from the Aviation Regulator Directorate General said that a detailed probe into the incident will be initiated and actions will be taken, accordingly.
“The flight would have taken off in five to seven seconds. Suddenly, I saw massive sparks coming off the wings, and it turned into a major fire. And the plane was stopped immediately. The pilot informed us there was some malfunction with the engine,” Priyanka, an IndiGo Passenger said.
IndiGo, in a statement, said, “An aircraft operating flight 6E2131 from Delhi to Bangalore experienced an engine stall during take-off roll. The take-off was aborted, and the aircraft safely returned to the bay. All passengers are being accommodated on an alternate aircraft. We regret the inconvenience caused to the passengers.”
