Ravi Roshan: Absolutely. My entrepreneurial journey spans nearly a decade and a half. Initially, I had uncertainties about whether I could sustain and flourish. Seeking advice from mentors and peers, some suggested I give it a year or so, while my family and a few friends offered unwavering support. Recognising a huge gap in the interior industry’s delivery and integrity aspects, I was determined to fill it.
In the early days, I faced challenges due to my IT background and the scepticism it garnered from those within the interior world. The idea that someone with my background could navigate this industry was met with doubt. Around 2013, we began making strides with successful deals, and by 2014, we were gaining traction and assembling a capable team. While the journey was difficult, my diverse sales and marketing background in sectors like telecom, IT, and retail equipped me to overcome the interior industry’s challenges.
Acknowledgment from respected media outlets like the Economic Times, the Hindu, and the Deccan Chronicle, in 2014 bolstered our credibility, underscoring the value of our business model. Through steadfast resolve, strategic planning, and a strong commitment to innovation, we established a presence in both the B2B and B2C segments.

Ravi Roshan: Certainly. The idea behind 100Krafts was sparked by a personal experience. When I undertook the task of getting the interiors of my own properties done, I encountered a series of challenges. The lack of professionalism, supply chain issues, and fragmented nature of the interior design industry intrigued me. I saw an opportunity to address these gaps and create positive change.
Thus, in 2013, 100Krafts was officially launched with a strong focus on providing end-to-end interior services. Ravi Roshan: Customer satisfaction forms the very foundation of our business model. We primarily cater to retail and household clients, with a sprinkling of commercial projects. Ravi Roshan: The pivotal moment for me was around 2010, when I undertook the task of getting the interiors of my properties done. This experience opened my eyes to the challenges within the industry—challenges like the lack of integrity and professionalism, and the fragmented nature of services.
Drawing from my experience at IBM, where processes and integration were integral, I realised that there was a significant gap in the interior design sector. For instance, there was a folk artist among our clients who initially sought a conventional kitchen or wardrobe design. However, upon delving deeper into her story, we recognised her unique background and incorporated elements of her folk artistry into her living space. It was a beautiful fusion that brought her artistic identity into her home.
Another inspiring story involves a family consisting of two teenagers and their parents. During our discussions, the wife expressed a specific concern regarding her mother-in-law’s comfort while cooking. Her mother-in-law had physical limitations that made cooking challenging, and she felt disheartened about not being able to contribute to the family meals. We took this as an opportunity to find a solution. Through thoughtful design adjustments and customised kitchen fittings, we were able to create a space where her mother-in-law could comfortably prepare meals, minimising her discomfort. The family was overjoyed with the outcome, particularly the thoughtful consideration given to this small yet significant aspect of their daily lives. These stories truly exemplify the heart of our company’s ethos, which is to make each living space a reflection of the people who inhabit it, incorporating their unique needs and stories.

Ravi Roshan: Sure. In March 2020, we were recognised by Business Sight Magazine as one of the “Best Performing Companies.” Also, Our innovation and excellence were acknowledged when we received the “Most Innovative Company of the Year 2019” award in the E-commerce and Technology category by Maharashtra.
Moreover, the year 2015 was a significant milestone for us as we were honoured with the prestigious title of “The Most Promising Interior Design Company of the Year” by Worldwide Achievers. In addition, in 2015, the Times Group also acknowledged our potential and awarded us “The Best Startups.” A moment of pride came when we were recognised for our Business Innovation as an Emerging Brand by the Asian Leadership Awards on October 7, 2015.

Rimjhim Charaan: In my early years, I studied at Delhi Public School and pursued Economic honours at Delhi University’s Miranda House after completing my 12th. Later, I had the opportunity to move to Cyprus, where I pursued an MBA in Finance. While in Cyprus, I worked as an Affiliate Manager in the gaming industry and later for a fintech company.
The online marketing and affiliate marketing space was gaining popularity at that time, and I had the chance to work with companies like Empire Online and www.finotec.com. Additionally, my international exposure allowed me to visit and interact with people from diverse cultures in about 18 different countries, providing me with a unique perspective on design, themes, and aesthetics.
Decision Maker: What was your journey like in 100Krafts, in a nutshell?
Rimjhim Charaan: After moving back to India with my husband Nitin and our two-month-old daughter Lavanya from Cyprus in 2008, we settled in Pune. During this time, I continued to work from home, maintaining online connections with my previous colleagues from Finotec. However, in 2010, after the birth of my second child, Tishya, I felt the desire to return to the workforce.
It was then that I came across 100Krafts, a startup in Bangalore that saw tremendous potential in Pune as well. Though I lacked a formal design background, I decided to take the risk and met with Ravi Roshan, the CEO, and my school friend. Through our discussions, I realised that my skills in management, finance, and customer relationship management (CRM) could be effectively utilised in the interior design industry. I joined 100Krafts, and from that point on, my journey as a COO began, overseeing the bigger picture and leading the team to success.

Rimjhim Charaan: Resource allocation and budget management are fundamental to our success in delivering projects on time and within financial targets. We believe in providing our clients with clear and transparent estimates. We present them with detailed breakdowns of the costs for each aspect of the project, including various elements such as wardrobes, tables, beds, and other items.
Moreover, we actively involve our designers and clients in the process, allowing them to add any additional elements they desire to enhance the project’s wow-factor. This approach ensures that our clients are fully aware of the financial aspects and align their expectations accordingly. To streamline the process further, we have a team of experts in quotation, business development, and design, ensuring a seamless experience for our clients and delivering projects efficiently.
Decision Maker: What was your moment of epiphany that set you on this path of what you do today?
Rimjhim Charaan: My moment of epiphany came while I was getting my own house done in Pune back in 2008. I noticed the lack of standardisation and transparency in the interior design industry at that time. The process of finding reliable designers involved numerous phone calls or relying on friends’ recommendations. I decided to get personally involved in the design process and worked closely with the designer to achieve the desired outcome.
It was then that I realised the tremendous potential for a standardised and organised approach in the interior design industry. Along with Ravi Roshan, who shared a similar vision, we recognised the gap and decided to establish 100Krafts, setting us on the path we are on today.
Decision Maker: Did you face any challenges?
Rimjhim Charaan: Absolutely. Being new to the interior design industry and lacking a formal design background posed challenges at the beginning. It was essential to overcome the initial hurdles and adapt quickly to the dynamics of the industry. Hiring skilled team members who shared our vision and mission was another challenge. We discovered that recruiting bright students and experienced professionals worked remarkably well for us.
Additionally, the industry was not entirely organised, and not everyone had the required knowledge to work efficiently. To address this, we established a system focusing on professionalism and customer-centricity, ensuring that all our team members were well-equipped to handle various aspects of our projects.
Decision Maker: What would you consider the most momentous accomplishment of your career?
Rimjhim Charaan: Reflecting on my career, there have been several momentous accomplishments. One of the highlights was when we undertook a significant commercial project in 2017 for a restaurant, spanning 3500 sq. ft. with a budget of 1.2 crore. The project was successfully completed in just 2.5 months, and the customer, a brigadier, continues to stay in touch, expressing satisfaction with our services. This project stands as a testament to our commitment and dedication to delivering quality outcomes in a timely manner.
Additionally, creating a customer-centric system within the interior design industry has been a major milestone for us. Traditionally, the focus has often been on architects and designers. However, at 100Krafts, we shifted the focus to prioritise our customers’ needs and experiences. This shift in approach has revolutionised our work, and clients appreciate the seamless experience we provide.
Also, I’m particularly proud to highlight our role as speakers at a significant AEC industry gathering. Ravi and I were invited in October 2022 to share insights on two crucial topics. Ravi captivated the audience by delving into the ‘Future Trends in the Interior Design Industry,’ offering a glimpse into the evolving landscape. On the other hand, I had the privilege of speaking on a subject close to my heart: ‘Women Empowerment and Leadership.’
Furthermore, I had the privilege of being invited by Goldman Sachs for their 10,000 Women NSRCEL program in 2019. This fully-funded program offered training and mentorship to women entrepreneurs with over 8 years of experience. The program provided valuable insights, upskilling opportunities, and expanded my knowledge in areas such as management and strategy. Rimjhim Charaan: I draw inspiration from various individuals in different aspects of life. My mother has been a dynamic and strong influence on me. Nivedita Sharma: My journey in the world of interior design began in 2013. Prior to that, I gained experience working for various other companies. Over the years, I’ve developed a strong foundation in interior design, enabling me to excel in my current role.

Nivedita Sharma: A significant achievement for me has been my promotion to the senior role, which recognises my dedication and contributions within the company.

Nivedita Sharma: I draw inspiration from Rimjhim ma’am, whose impeccable management style and work approach leave a lasting impression on me.
Decision Maker: How do you address challenges when it comes to managing client expectations?
Nivedita Sharma: When faced with challenges in meeting client expectations, I emphasise the importance of open communication. We hold pre-project meetings to ensure we have a clear understanding of their requirements and satisfaction. If issues arise, I assure clients that we take responsibility and work diligently to resolve them.
We also explore alternative approaches, such as expediting projects or manufacturing certain components off-site, to streamline the process.
Decision Maker: Customer feedback is crucial for improvement. How do you enhance the overall customer experience?
Nivedita Sharma: To continually enhance the customer experience, I conduct audits and gather feedback from clients. We actively address any concerns, working collaboratively to find solutions. Regular communication plays a key role; we engage with clients on a weekly basis and involve the design team in implementing any requested changes.
Decision Maker: How do you prioritise tasks and ensure on-time project delivery while maintaining quality?
Nivedita Sharma: Task prioritisation and timely project delivery are crucial. We create Gantt charts for every project, providing a comprehensive visual of our timeline. Weekly updates and consistent client communication keep everyone on track.
We manage microtasks meticulously and provide buffer time to accommodate potential delays, such as material availability or vendor dependencies. Our clients appreciate our transparency and understanding in such scenarios.

Decision Maker: What’s your role at 100Krafts?
Ar. Ved Nair: I serve as the head architect, leading the design team. Bringing international and National standards and concepts to our company and our clients.
Decision Maker: How long have you been part of the 100Krafts team, and how would you describe your journey so far?
Ar. Ved Nair: I’ve been associated with 100Krafts for approximately 4 years, and the journey has been quite rewarding. Our designs have become more unique and creative, on par with the latest International and National designs.
Decision Maker: Could you share some of your notable accomplishments in your current role?
Ar. Ved Nair: Certainly, I’ve had the privilege to handle a diverse range of projects, varying in ticket sizes from INR 5 lakh to 60–70 lakh. What I’m most proud of is the variation in design and the consistently high level of client satisfaction. Remarkably, around 99.5% of our clients are completely satisfied with the design projects I’ve been involved in.
Decision Maker: Who or what inspires you in your role?
Ar. Ved Nair: The Creator’s creation is the most colossal inspiration. And the eye for detail is what inspires me the most.
Decision Maker: How do you strike a balance between creativity, practicality, and budget constraints in your projects?
Ar. Ved Nair: Balancing creativity, practicality, and budget constraints is a delicate art, achieved through well-developed knowledge and strategic incorporation of design. To get the same WOW effect on a scale from 1 to 10.
Let me give you an example: The Marble stone, which costs 40k a slab, now has the same look and is available in more than 5 different materials (Laminate, albester, acrylic, quartz, and vitrified tiles) on the market at varying prices.
Decision Maker: How do you ensure smooth communication among clients, team members, and stakeholders throughout the design process?
Ar. Ved Nair: Effective communication is the linchpin of success. Clear communication is essential to preventing any potential roadblocks or misunderstandings. It’s a skill that ensures a cohesive and collaborative approach throughout the design process, preventing any hitches along the way.
