Chandrayaan 3 completed a soft landing on the Lunar South Pole to create history.
India’s ambitious mission to the moon ended with joy and excitement when the ISRO Chef announced that we had successfully landed the Chandrayaan-3 moon lander on the south pole. It is a significant milestone the Indian Space Research Organization has achieved and demonstrated to the world that India can stand in the space race with the developed country.
India’s moon missions are operated on a significantly lower budget. But that did not stop the hard-working scientist and team at the ISRO from moving forward to become the world’s most successful space research organization.
Landing on the Moon’s southern pole is considered challenging because communication with the lander gets difficult as it passes through the other side of the Moon. India has managed to get the lander on the southern pole.
Moon mission ended at 6.04 pm IST on Wednesday, while the entire ISRO team, with the Primer Minister Narendra Modi, attended the live streaming through video conferencing.

With the success of the Moon landing, India has become the fourth country in the world out of 195 countries to land on the moon and the first to land on the moon’s south pole region. The primary objective of the landing on the South Pole was to find water on the moon. It is expected that the moon have water ice trapped on its surface. Digging the hole in the moon’s surface will tell us whether the moon has water underneath or it is dry soil.
Water is essential for the survival of the human. If you can find sufficient water on the moon, we could plan a future space mission where India must send humans to the moon and beyond to explore our universe.

India has mastered space technology, where it can land the rover on other teleterial bodies. Soft landing is the most challenging job because the lander has to go through multiple maneuvers during flight.
The mission depends on automation, whereas the lander depends on the inbuilt software system. Till now, only three more countries have successfully achieved the lunar surface landing, which includes the United States, China, and the USSR. India has recorded its name after these three developed countries, which is a commendable job.
The next phase of the Chandrayaan-3 will have the lunar rover exploration, where the lander will deploy the small rover, which will drive on the moon’s surface and collect the moon’s soil sample to conduct on-site scientific experiments.
Earlier, the Chandrayaan-2 mission had failed due to a software glitch and lost control on its final descent. Lander and Vikram’s rover crashed into the Moon due to anomalies. But the failure of the Chandrayaan 2 mission gave us a new perspective on the moon landing.
Scientists have learned many things and made the necessary changes to the new Moon mission Chandrayaan 3 to ensure that the lender will reach its location no matter what goes wrong. Every tiny aspect of the moon mission is meticulously reviewed, and system upgrades are conducted before launching the lander into space.
Chandrayaan-3 mission had a budget of Rs.600 crore and launched on July 14 using its primary rocket system LVM-3. Rocket launch marks the journey of 41 days to the Lunar South Pole. ISRO used gravitational assistance to send the lander to the Moon orbit. Using a gravity maneuver helps to reduce the cost of the mission.
Soft landing achievements have come after Russia’s Luna 25 failed mission, which crash landed on the moon due to loss of communication with the spacecraft. Everyone was skeptical about India’s moon landing after the failure, but everything went as planned, and ISRO set the record by soft landing the spacecraft.
